Voltage ???

Postby vivek » Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:52 pm

A bulb rated 200V is connected in series in a circuit with a battery of 220V.If the current consumed is 'x' amperes then find the resistance??

NOW MY DOUBT is that for the 'voltage' , should we take it as

1. 200 V as it is rated so...
or
2. 220 V as it is in a circuit where the battery supplies a potential difference of 220 V????

Pls help me out

we should take 220V as the voltage. And I think you should get the answer in terms of x, isn't it:?:

guyz dont u think deres a flaw in de Q
since its just written a 220v bulb is connected in series
but with what?
if the oder appliance is given den we can find the voltage of it(220v- 200v=20v)
and de oder appliance resistance shud be given
den we can find de overall current of circuit and den de R of bulb
