Physics - Impulse

Postby bcappu » Mon Sep 08, 2008 5:53 pm

A glass marble, whose mass is 100g, falls from a height of 40m and rebounds to a height of 10m. Find the impulse and the average force between the marble and the floor, if the time during which they are in contact is 0.2s

Impulse=mv-mu
v1=(2*9.8*40)^.5
=28 m/s

Similarly,
u(velocity after bouncing)=-14m/s

impulse=-1.4-2.8=-4.2Ns
force=I/t=-4.2/0.2=-2.1N
