Hi all,

My daughter is studing in 1st Grade in CBSC school, Bangalore. What i understand is all CBSC or even ICSC schools work (i.e conduct classes) from Mon. to Fri. & students have Sat. & Sun. off. But in her school, from last 2 months, thay have made Sat. compulsary attendance for them. The school timings on other days is 8.30 am till 3.30 pm (other schools end at 3.00 pm). And on saturdays it is 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. They say Saturday is for teaching activities. But this saturday she is having 'Memory competition' which means a regular school function. I think it is too much for children.

My querry is whether CBSC schools can operate on saturdays with compulsion?
Is there any rule/regulation on school timings & workings mentioned by CBSC board?
I would appreciate a reply from an Authority to know the fact, coz i am getting a feeling that her school is not able to finish portion bet. Mon-Fri & hence they are calling childrens on sats. I see all other school childres sleeping till late, playing out on saturdays & my child reaching school at 8.30 am. It pains! Please reply.

Is it compulsory that we should study XI and XII in a CBSE school for getting into IIT?
Now I am in 8th standard. I am targeting for IIT. Should I compulsorily study XI and XII in a CBSE school? Give me a way.

I also think that regarding Saturdays that may be too much for a small child.

even i was wondering why some schools are having classes on saturdays. my kids school has saturday classes from UKG
